A dial logo has to work at watch scale. Artwork that looks sharp on a screen may become difficult to read between hands, markers and a date window. Start with the actual dial layout and the size of the available printing area.
Check the dial with the hands in different positions
A mockup should show where the logo sits relative to the center, markers, date window and existing text. Ask for dimensions rather than relying on a zoomed image. Avoid layouts that obscure time reading or imitate another brand without authorization.
Simplify small artwork
Thin lines, small gaps and long taglines may need adjustment for the production method. Supply vector artwork where available and identify the essential parts of the mark. Ask which details can be reproduced at the quoted size; a vector file alone does not guarantee every line can be produced.
Approve contrast and finish
Specify the dial color and whether the logo should be printed, engraved or applied, where feasible. A metallic appearance in a digital mockup is not proof of a metallic finish on the finished dial. Confirm process, placement and color expectations in writing before production.
