Case diameter and lug width measure different parts of a watch. A 40mm watch does not take a 40mm strap. Diameter describes the case, while lug width describes the space where a conventional strap attaches.
Measure at the attachment point
Use the documented lug width or measure the gap between the lugs carefully. A strap that is too wide may not fit; a narrow one can leave gaps and poor support. Confirm spring-bar dimensions and attachment design as well.
Distinguish straight straps from fitted bracelets
An integrated bracelet or shaped end link may require a model-specific part even when the nominal width matches. Case curvature and hole position matter. Do not infer compatibility from matching width alone.
Check the selected model
Some watches in the same family differ in size or attachment. Use the exact product and SKU, and request clarification when only strap width rather than lug width is listed. The store strap-size calculator and guide help organize the measurements, but missing dimensions still need confirmation.
